The City of Turku and Sitowise will organise a hackathon for higher education students at Tiedepuisto on 2-3 November 2023. At Hackathon, teams are challenged to find operating models to make the strong student potential of Turku Science Park and its nearby campuses available to companies in an inventive, efficient and mutually beneficial manner.

The students of the Turku University of Applied Sciences' (TUAS) Circular economy in practice course got this fall a task from the City of Turku. Plans to build the world’s first climate-neutral cruise ship are underway in Turku. Moreover, a new textile refinement plant will be built in Turku, making Finland the first country in the world where post-consumer textiles are obtained nationwide for reuse and recycling. These unique projects have received financial support from the EU recovery funds.
European union Mission on 100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities in Europe by 2030 aims to support at least 100 cities to become carbon-neutral by the end of the decade. The City of Turku was selected as one of the 100 frontrunner cities.
The Turku Education Committee will receive the needs assessment of the Turku International Primary School on 21 June. The possible completion of the project is scheduled for 2025, when the school would be able to move to new premises in Kupittaa, the Science Park area.

At this event, the speakers will discuss about the student journey as well as introduce two projects supporting international talents in higher education. Tendering was launched for the future Science Park deck area on 22 December 2021 as the Kupittaa Partnership Project. The aim of the project is to create a series of urban spaces in the planning zone to form a strong and energetic core for the Turku Science Park.

Students and young adults are offered corona vaccinations in pop-up vaccination events. Both 1st and 2nd coronavirus vaccine doses will be given during pop-up events without appointment. The vaccinations are meant for Turku residents and students living in Turku.
Come and take a free quick test for coronavirus infections! The tests are available at the parking carage of Varissuo Ice Hall On Thurday 6 May and Tuesday 11 May at 10 am – 3 pm. You don't need an appointment or a referral. The testing is specifically intended for asymptomatic people.
Study in Turku organizes a webinar on Monday 19th of April for the international students studying in universities and universities of applied sciences in Turku. Our speaker in the webinar is an occupational health psychologist Ronnie Grandell who has specialized in the areas of self-compassion and compassionate therapy. Event is a free of charge.
